Brothers and Sisters,

Our Cure Bible Study closes its series this Tuesday on the book of Ephesians with a “Time of Prayer, Reflection and Response”.  I encourage all who are accustomed to attend the Bible Studies to make a special effort to join in the prayer time, as the tendency has been in the past for many to absent themselves.  Paul admonishes the Christians in Philippi, “In everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God.”   Let me list a few requests:

  • For those away on vacation, whether locally or overseas.  As we miss their presence in worship, let us remember them in our prayers.  For some the break will be for rest and renewal, for others it will be for reconnecting with family, and for some of our young people it will be for some special assignment overseas, but let us pray that for all, the time will be rewarding and fulfilling.
  • For those who are vacationing here from overseas, that their presence will fill the gap created by our absent members.  But much more, pray that our visitors may experience great joy and blessing while worshipping with us.
  • For those parents and children who will be getting ready for the new school year.  We are aware of many demands that must be met, and pray that they may experience God’s grace in meeting every need of theirs.
  • For our nation as we celebrate the Great Days of Emancipation and Independence, that they may be occasions of meaning and joy for all the people of this land we love.
  • For the Church of the Transfiguration as it celebrates its Feast of Title.
  • Finally let us pray  for those who mourn, for those who are sick, and for all who are in any need or trouble.
