Message for Epiphany 1 – Sunday, January 11, 2026

Malachi 1:11 states “For from the rising of the sun to its setting My name is great among nations, and in every place incense is offered to My name, and a pure offering;; for My name is great among the nations, says the Lord of Hosts.

The Reading from Isaiah 60:1-6 Focuses on Jerusalem’s light shining, with nations and kings coming to it, bringing gold and frankincense, fulfilling prophecy about the Messiah’s glory being revealed to all peoples.

Parts of Psalm 72 refer to a prayer for the King (Messiah) to rule with justice, bringing peace and adoration from all nations.

Our reading from Ephesians 3 highlights the revelation of God’s plan that Gentiles (non-Jews) are fellow heirs with Israel in Christ.

The Gospel from Matthew 2 tells us the classic Epiphany story: where the Magi from the East follow a star to find the newborn Jesus, offer gifts, and worship Him, demonstrating His revelation to the world.

These readings collectively celebrate the manifestation (epiphany) of Jesus Christ as the savior for all people, not just the Jews, as shown by the wise men from distant lands.

The name Epiphany comes from the Greek epiphaneia, meaning “appearance” or “manifestation.” It refers to the manifestation of Jesus Christ to the Gentiles (during the visit of the non-Jewish Magi) as the savior of the world. The holiday is also called the Feast of Epiphany, Theophany, or Three Kings’ Day.

Have a wonderful and blessed week.
